Spravato (esketamine) treatment is a newer approach for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or major depressive disorder with acute suicidal ideation or behavior (MDSI).  Spravato is a prescription nasal spray containing esketamine, a form of ketamine. It’s FDA-approved for use in conjunction with an oral antidepressant for patients with TRD who haven’t responded adequately to at least two other antidepressants. It’s also approved, along with an oral antidepressant, for adults with MDSI. Spravato is only administered at certified treatment centers under the direct supervision of a healthcare professional.
